Two-car crash claims life of Poughkeepsie man

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE –
A two-car crash on Route 44 at Tamarack Hill Drive in the Town of Poughkeepsie
Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a 22-year-old Poughkeepsie man.

Town Police said a car driven by Andrew Davis was going westbound on Route
44 as a vehicle operated by a 68-year-old Millbrook man was going eastbound
with a 68-year-old female passenger.

Preliminary investigation revealed Davis lost control of his vehicle crossing
into the opposite lane of traffic, striking the other vehicle. Davis was
transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Both people in the other car were transported to Vassar Brothers Medical
Center, where they were both treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A section of Route 44 was closed for some six hours during the accident
reconstruction.

Police were assisted by the Arlington Fire Department and Mobile Life
Ambulance.
