Hyde Park man charged with illegal firearm possession

HYDE PARK – A man, who had just burglarized a house in Hyde Park, was arrested outside while waiting for a taxicab.
Hyde Park Police were called to the scene on Monday, January 2 and interviewed the man, identified as Jermell McLean, 40, of Hyde Park. He attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Investigation resulted in the discovery of a stolen, defaced .38 caliber revolver McLean possessed without a permit.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a defaced weapon, both as felonies, obstructing governmental administration and petit larceny, both as misdemeanors.
McLean is in the Dutchess County Jail without bail because of previous felony convictions.
