Off-duty police officer charged in fatal crash

WHITE PLAINS – An off-duty
New Rochelle city police officer has been charged with vehicular manslaughter
after his car crashed into a tree in White Plains.

Authorities said Harry Kyreakedes, 27, who has been with the police department
for a little over a year, had a blood-alcohol content of .23 percent;
the legal limit is .08 percent.

White Plains officials said his passenger, Isaac Ward, 27, died in the
hospital.

The crash occurred on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 3 a.m.

Mew Rochelle City Manager Chuck Strome called the crash “a tragic
accident.”
