TOWN OF WALLKILL – The new Home2 Suites by Hilton opened two weeks ago on Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill.  Business has been brisk.

Wallkill’s newest hotel off to a good start

The 95-room extended stay facility on the site of the former town hall is owned and operated by local developers Chet Patel and Jake Kriney.
Occupancy has been good with guests coming from around the US and overseas. Sales Manager Eric Baal said they have already played hosts to visitors from South Africa. He anticipated high occupancy as a matter of course given the businesses, healthcare industry and tourism opportunities in the region.
Town Supervisor Daniel Depew said the project will add to the economy
of the town.
“Here is a piece of property that we sold for a price we wanted,” Depew said.  “They were able to get in there in record time, put in a hotel and get it open and already on the tax rolls paying taxes. You can build and attract good quality building without having to give away the store and we worked very hard to balance that.”

The developers will not be paying a payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT).
Baal, whose former career in international logistics took him around the world in stays at countless hotels, is using that experience to market Home2 Suites. He said they want those staying at the hotel “to feel like home.”
General Manager Sharon Protiva, who has been a hotel general manager in Ohio and West Virginia for 11 years, is looking forward to the new opportunity to serve the Mid-Hudson Valley.
Patel’s company owns two other hotels, both in Danbury, Connecticut.
