TOWN OF WALLKILL – The Sears store in the Galleria at Crystal Run will be closing in the spring. The company did not renew its lease with the Town of Wallkill shopping center.
While the large store is one of the anchors in the mall, Town Supervisor Daniel Depew believes its departure could pave the way for bigger and better opportunities.
“With the casino coming just north of us and with potentially Legoland just south of us, the Town of Wallkill is only going to continue to be a real hot location for retail and commerce, so by Sears kind of lagging behind other retailers in the past few years, freeing up an open piece of real estate like that,” he said.  “I think there is a great opportunity for us.”
Depew said an upscale retailer that is not represented in the market would be a good fit for the space.
