BREWSTER – A Danbury, Connecticut was arrested following an incident on I-84 that almost resulted in two New York State troopers being run down.
Troopers and Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a high-speed pursuit on Route 6 involving a vehicle driven by Adonis Castro-Espinal, 22, of Danbury. Police attempted to disable his vehicle by deploying a tire deflation device but as he fled, he drove directly at two troopers at approximately 100 miles per hour nearly striking them. They were able to jump out of the way to escape injury.
Castro-Espinal continued into Connecticut where he was stopped on I-84 by state troopers and held as a fugitive from justice from New York.
On December 12, eight days after the chase, he posted bail and turned himself into New York State Police in Southeast where he was charged with two felony counts of reckless endangerment. He was sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.
