KINGSTON – Ulster County Family Court is expected to move from its
current location in the City of Kingston to the county-owned building
in the Town of Ulster.

Planning to remodel the facility is underway now that county residents
approved a referendum early last month to relocate.

County Executive Michael Hein is enthused about the move.

“We are just beginning the next phase after the proposition passed
in November, so we expect to break ground in the early part of next year
and hopefully be done at the end of next year or the beginning of the
following year,” he said.

The current Family Court space is insufficient for the caseload and the
state Office of Court Administration ordered the county to find a long-term
new accommodation.

The county administration believes moving to the new facility where social
services and other county support functions are available for families
is the ideal new location.
