DA Farrell swears in Galligan to her new post

MONTICELLO – Assistant District Attorney Meagan Galligan has been
promoted to chief assistant DA for Sullivan County. Galligan joined the
office in 2009 and has prosecuted hundreds of cases, including many violent
felony offenses as well as prosecutions as the DA’s representative
to the Sullivan County Violence Response Team and the Sullivan County
Drug Treatment Court.

Her successful felony trial prosecutions include the prosecution of Tyrome
Chaneyfield, who is serving a life sentence for the predatory assault
of a child, and the prosecution of Frank Drayton, for a violent robbery
in the Village of Monticello.

She wrote the appellate brief in the prosecution of David Perkins, who
was convicted of the murder of Carl Williams in Monticello, and whose
conviction was upheld in appellate court in Albany.

DA James Farrell said Galligan “has worked hard to protect the citizens
of Sullivan County throughout her prosecutorial career in both our trial
and appellate courts.”

Galligan graduated from New York University in 2003 and Georgetown University
Law Center in 2006. She is a lifelong Sullivan County native and currently
lives in Forestburgh.
