GOSHEN – The Orange County Legislature was set on Thursday to vote
on changing the legal age to buy tobacco products from 18 to 21, but it
was tabled because of a language technicality in the bill.

Once it comes out of committee again later this month, legislature Chairman
Stephen Brescia expects it will be passed.

“There are serious health issues and other related things with smoking
18 to 21 or less,” he said.
Other counties in the Mid-Hudson Valley have either raised or are considering
raising the legal tobacco purchasing age.
