ARLINGTON – Fire in a residence in the Arlington section of the Town of Poughkeepsie early Wednesday caused severe damage. The cause was determined to be accidental and related to use of an oil-type lamp.
The 1 a.m. fire was reported in the living room of 26 Townsend Boulevard with Arlington firefighters responding within three minutes of the initial dispatch.
One occupant was able to get out of the house, but sustained smoke and burn-related injuries, Fire Chief Tory Gallanted said. That individual was transported by ambulance to MidHudson Regional Hospital for treatment.
The Red Cross is assisting the victim, who was displaced.
Several other area fire departments and emergency services agencies assisted in the operations.
