NEW WINDSOR – Construction of a Brooklyn Brewery facility in the Stewart Airport Industrial Park is “huge,” Stewart Airport Commission Chairman Louis Heimbach said Tuesday. The committee praised the plan to build the large operation off Route 17K in the Town of Newburgh. Initially, the company would construct a 250,000 square foot building, but could increase that by another 100,000 SF.
Heimbach predicted it would have a greater impact than the annual air show and said it would be the largest non-aviation project to hit the airport.
The company is expected to win approval to lease the 19 acres from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at that agency’s monthly meeting tomorrow (Thursday).
Over the 60 years of the lease, Brooklyn Brewery would pay some $30 million.
