GOSHEN – The first edition of the “Orange County District Attorney /Senior Fraud Prevention and Resource Guide” has been published and is available to the public, DA David Hoovler announced.
The 14-page booklet is designed to help seniors avoid being defrauded and contains a number of tips to use to prevent themselves from becoming victims of fraud, including information about safeguarding their credit, avoiding telephone scams, and dealing with unscrupulous companies and contractors.  The guide also contains contact information to use to check out companies with whom they are dealing and to report fraud if they are victimized.
Copies of the guide will be available at municipal offices.  Hoovler and his Community Affairs Unit will be visiting municipal board meetings and other events this winter to discuss the guide and senior fraud scams.
“Our senior citizens deserve our respect and they are entitled to our best efforts to help keep them from being victimized by criminals and unscrupulous companies,” the DA said
For more information about the guide or to obtain a company, call Robert Conflitti, counsel to the DA, or Darlene De Jesus, community affairs coordinator, at 845-615-3640 or by email to DACommunityAffairs@orangecountygov.com .
