MONTICELLO – As interest
continues to mount over development in Sullivan County, economic development
officials are discussing a corridor analysis of the Old Route 17 (Harris
Road) area between Liberty and Monticello.
Sullivan County Partnership President Marc Baez said that area, which connects two urban centers, could be ideal for industrial commercial end users.
“It’s proximate to the highway, there are some utilities that are readily available there, and we are looking to extend water and sewer to that area to begin to put together several relatively large shovel-ready sites for the purpose of going out and expanding our base and getting investment into Sullivan County,” Baez said.
The region’s casino project, Montreign, is under construction on the Adelaar site, which will eventually be a large-scale facility and nearby the Z-Living/Veria health spa, under construction at the former Kutcher’s resort, are among two of the major projects in Sullivan County at the present time.
