KINGSTON – The Ulster County grand jury has handed up an indictment
charging Marine Corps Lance Corporal Kevin Guerrero, 20, with sexual abuse,
three counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary in connection
with three recent attacks on female SUNY New Paltz students at their off-campus
apartments.

Guerrero is stationed at the Stewart Air National Guard Base.

Guerrero was also charged with trying unsuccessfully to enter a fourth
apartment. He is also accused of breaking into a local business with intent
to commit a crime and of subjecting a person to sexual contact in one
of the residences while she was asleep.

All of the offenses are alleged to have occurred in the Village of New
Paltz in the early morning hours of September 4. All of the occupants
were asleep at the time that he entered their apartments.

He was arrested on September 7 following an investigation by New Paltz
Police.

The indictment replaces one handed up last week for sexual abuse. District
Attorney Holley Carnright said that indictment was handed up for the sole
purpose of statutory deadlines for a person who is incarcerated.

Special Victims Bureau Chief Katherine Van Loan is handling the case for
the DA’s Office and Guerrero is represented by the Ulster County
Public Defender’s Office.
