Former Orange County legislator dies

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA – One of the members of the first Orange County Legislature has died. Robert DeLong, formerly of the Town of Newburgh, passed away on October 7 at age 94. He had been living on Boca Raton, Florida.
DeLong served for 12 years as a Newburgh town councilman and later served
for eight years as part of the Republican majority in the newly created
county legislature.
Following a career in television sales and repair, he purchased the abandoned 70 acre Revior Farm on Lake Osiris Road where he refurbished the existing farmhouse and barns, reclaimed the land and built a modern log home where he lived until 2015.
Funeral services for DeLong will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Route 208 in Walden.
