Cusack-McGuirk

NEWBURGH – Interim St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital President
Joan Cusack-McGuirk has been appointed permanent president and CEO of
the healthcare facility. She held the interim post since June 2015.

Cusack-McGuirk, a long time resident of New Windsor, has more than 35
years of experience in the healthcare industry, serving more than 20 years
at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. Prior to being named to the leadership
in June of last year, she served as senior vice president and chief nursing
officer at the hospital.

Michelle Rider, chairwoman of the Board of Trustees, said McGuirk “truly
understands the direction of healthcare transformation, and there is no
better person to lead St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital into the future
of healthcare delivery.”

Dr. Steven Safyer, president and CEO of Montefiore Health System, the
healthcare network partner with SLCH announced early this year, called
McGuirk “a visionary administrator and experienced nurse leader
who knows she can succeed when caring for people comes first.”

Under Cusack-McGuirk’s leadership, the hospital earned several awards
and accreditations, including being designated as a Blue Distinction Center
for Knee and Hip Replacement by BlueCross BlueShield; recognized as a
five-star recipient for treatment of Sepsis by Healthgrades; as well as
being named a Most Wired Hospital because of SLCH’s information
technology infrastructure.
