TUXEDO – A man struck while crossing Route 17 in the Town of Tuxedo
on Friday night has died.
Tuxedo Town Police said Lawrence Kovaly, 67, of Tuxedo, was crossing the
highway near Patterson Hill Road when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Kovaly sustained a serious head injury, was transported to Good Samaritan
Hospital in Suffern where he was later flown to Westchester Medical Center
in Valhalla where he was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.
Police said that portion of the highway where the incident occurred has
a 55 mile per hour speed limit with no traffic lights or cross walk.
