TOWN OF CRAWFORD – It was one year ago that Sgt. Eric Meier, a
respected and beloved member of the Crawford Town Police Department suffered
a fatal heart attack while investigating a possible marijuana growing
operation. He was 51 and a more than 25-year member of the department.

On Saturday, on the anniversary of his death, a monument and garden were
unveiled in Meier’s memory.

Over 200 friends and coworkers joined his family behind the Crawford police
station in Pine Bush. Many wiped tears from their eyes.

“It’s people like Eric, it’s people like the officers
who are here, the fire, the EMS, that keep us safe. They answer the call;
they never know what’s there,” said Orange County District
Attorney David Hoovler.

Meier graduated from Pine Bush High School in 1982.
