TOWN OF NEWBURGH – More than 250 members of the New York Army National Guard’s 369th Sustainment Brigade Headquarters departed from Stewart Airport on Friday for deployment to Kuwait. The first stop for the members is Fort Hood, Texas, where they will train before deploying to the Middle East in support of military operations in the region.
The soldiers will oversee the logistics and transportation operations
for units providing support to American and allied troops in those missions.
They will spend 10 months in Kuwait following their training.
The brigade is commanded by Col. Steven Bousquet, a veteran of Afghanistan service, for Operation Enduring Freedom.
The unit previously deployed troops to Mali and Cameroon in support of the US African Command in training exercises with African militaries. Soldiers of the 369th also provided logistics support during the New York National Guard’s response to Super Storm Sandy in 2012.
