POUGHKEEPSIE – Groundbreaking will be held Tuesday for the new Vassar Brothers Medical Center patient pavilion at the Poughkeepsie campus.
The 700,000-square-foot, seven-level inpatient facility will feature 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms, 30 critical care rooms, a large emergency department with 66 treatment rooms, ample parking for ambulances, patients and visitors, and new operating rooms.
The almost $500 million project, the largest in the history of the city, was approved by the Poughkeepsie planning board last spring. Construction is expected to take two ands a half years to complete.
