KINGSTON – The North Front Street municipal parking lot in Kingston is now open following a major reconstruction project.
Green infrastructure was installed to prevent stormwater from running
into the nearby Esopus Creek.  The project was paid for in part by
a $365,831 grant from the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
A news release did not provide the total cost of the work.
Mayor Steven Noble said the same type of improvements will be undertaken at the municipal lot across the street.
“Access to safe and well-maintained off-street parking is critical to our local businesses and residents who rely on these lots in this busy city district,” Noble said.
While the south side lot will now be open, a few items are outstanding and some portions of the lot may be restricted. Lighting has also not been installed yet so users are strongly urged to use caution when parking in the evening.
