LOCH SHELDRAKE – Of the 121 two-year colleges in New York State, SUNY Sullivan is ranked eighth, according to EDsmart.org, a national publisher of college resources and rankings.
Each school was evaluated and ranked based on four publicly available data points from the National Center for Education Statistics’ College Navigator, dealing with accreditation, affordability, academic quality, and student satisfaction. The highest possible score was 100. SUNY Sullivan scored 86.5.
“SUNY Sullivan’s placement in the Top 10 reflects the strong commitment of the college’s faculty and staff to the personal success of our students, whether their goal is to graduate in two years, attend part time, or transfer to a four-year college or university after studying with us for a year or two,” said Jay Quaintance, SUNY Sullivan’s officer in charge.
“Community colleges play a crucial role in preparing students for vocational and professional careers and for transfer to four-year universities,” said Tyson Stevens, managing editor of EDsmart.

Officials at the Loch Sheldrake campus continue to explore ways to capitalize on opportunities, including the casino
under construction, and to broaden its appeal to more people
