Monticello couple arrested after Liberty robbery investigation

VILLAGE OF LIBERTY – A Monticello couple was arrested following an investigation into a reported robbery on Friday, August 19.          
Liberty Police were called around 3 p.m. on Friday for a report of a shoplifter at the Advances Auto Parts store in the village. Investigation revealed that a store employee was attempting to stop Patricia Hatton, 47, from stealing merchandise when she struck the employee with a vehicle as she tried to flee the scene with the merchandise.
Hatton and Ronald Anderson, 45, were located a short time later in the Village of Monticello and taken into custody. The merchandise was recovered and Hatton was charged with felony ro0bbery and petit larceny as a misdemeanor.
Hatton was also charged with another count of petit larceny in connection with a shoplifting incident in Liberty in June. She is in the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Anderson was charged with a misdemeanor of criminal possession of stolen property, and released on an appearance ticket.
Liberty Police were assisted in the investigation by Village of Monticello Police.
