WAPPINGER – The Federal Aviation Administration granted $313,200 to Dutchess County to replace two buildings at the county airport in Wappinger.
The aircraft rescue and firefighting building and a snow removal building will both be replaced with new facilities to comply with federal aviation safety requirements.  The funds will be used for the first of two phases of renovation on each of the two buildings, and will be used primarily for design and planning.
“The creation of these updated facilities will provide airport personnel with the critical resources they need to do their job more efficiently and effectively, including direct access to water and adequate storage space for equipment,” said Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro. “This funding will further enhance our efforts to improve operations at the airport while also providing maximum safety for airport personnel.”
Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney secured the funding.
