MONTICELLO — A 37-year-old Monticello man is dead following a stabbing
incident late Friday night at a residence in the Evergreen Drive housing
complex in Monticello.
Village police found the man at around 11:10 p.m., believed to to be
the result of a domestic incident. There was no threat to the public,
investigators said. It is believed a nine-year-old boy was defending his
mother against the victim at the time of the stabbing.
The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
He was airlifted to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill
where he died following emergency sergery.
Monticello Police are investigating with assistance from the Sullivan
County District Attorney’s Office and State Police. There was no mention
of a suspect.
