Suspect arrested in Cold Spring burglaries

COLD SPRING – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office nabbed a man believed to have committed a string of burglaries in the Village of Cold Spring over the last two weeks.
David Gipson, 42, reported to be homeless, at is also implicated in a recent series of burglaries committed in Dutchess and Westchester counties.  In Putnam, he has been tied to six burglaries and two attempted burglaries in Cold Spring.
All of the crimes occurred overnight and all the premises were unoccupied at the time. Cash was stolen in each case, from registers or counters and in one case, from a donation box at Our Lady of Loretto Roman Catholic Church.
The sheriff’s office investigated with assistance from Cold Spring Police, Ossining Village Police, City of Beacon Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and MTA Police.
