SLOATSBURG – The oldest summer group camps in Harriman State Parks will see a major upgrading with $14 million in state funds.
The 37 outdoor camp facilities, first built in 1913, will see infrastructure improvements to include water supply restoration, new and improved utilities, building and roof repairs, roadways and trail reconstruction, and modernization of the wastewater treatment systems. Several new docks will also be installed to reinvigorate and reintroduce camp activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
Each camp consists of a small campus of cabins, tent platforms, dining halls, recreation buildings, comfort stations and waterfront facilities.
