NEW WINDSOR – You can thank R&B superstar Beyoncé for driving up the cargo shipping numbers at Stewart Airport.
Outbound cargo rose by close to 300 tons because the performer’s equipment was shipped from Stewart in advance of a concert tour in Great Britain, said airport Business Development Director Michael Torelli.

“When I say major, it was the largest uplift of sound equipment
and stage equipment ever in the history of uplifts,” he said. “There
were six, 747’s that were full going over to the UK and they will
be coming back in the next couple of months. They were well over a couple
of hundred tons.”
Torelli briefed the Stewart Airport Commission about the shipment at its Tuesday session.
