MIDDLETOWN – A 56-year-old man was shot and killed by a Middletown City Police officer Wednesday evening when he came out of an apartment while armed with a gun, multiple sources told MidHudsonNews.com.

Police plan to release details of what happened here later today

City Police confirmed the shooting transpired after police arrived to a call of a domestic incident at an Overlook Drive residence.
Police were alerted to the domestic when the man’s ex-girlfriend
called to say he was in her apartment and had a gun. He threatened to
shoot her, himself and anyone who came near them. Police ordered the man
to come out with his hands up, but he did not. After the man was shot,
he was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill
where he was pronounced dead.
The State Police and Orange County District Attorney’s Office will investigate the case since it was an officer involved shooting.
