YONKERS –  A Yonkers Police marine unit was on patrol on the Hudson River early Sunday afternoon when they received a report of a vessel in distress south of the Kennedy Marina in Yonkers.
A wave runner, a type of large jet ski, occupied by an adult man and two young girls, ages 11 and 12, not running and was taking on water. The man was in the water.  The girls were still on the vessel in what police described as a “panicked state.”
The Officers immediately tied a line to the vessel and subsequently pulled both girls and the adult to safety.  No injuries were sustained by any of the victims.
The wave runner was towed to Kennedy Marina.
Initial investigation has revealed that upon leaving the Kennedy Marina, the wave runner began to take on water and stalled.  The vessel was then taken quickly by a strong current southbound on the Yonkers side of the river.  The adult was able to reach the Yonkers Police Department Communications Division via his cell phone.
