Arrest made in Monticello murder

MONTICELLO – Village Police in Monticello made an arrest in the shooting death of a man in a residence at 62 Park Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. A dispute between the two men stemmed from a domestic situation, police said.
When officers were called to the scene, they found Juan Medina, 28, of Brooklyn dead in the doorway. Witnesses reported seeing a man approach Media and fire an undetermined number of gunshots toward him as he stood outside the multi-residence building.
Investigation led to the arrest of Carlos Serrano Valentine, 24, of Terry Lane in Monticello. He was taken into custody without incident at the apartment of an acquaintance on Terry Lane. He was charged with murder, arraigned and sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
Assisting Monticello Police were the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office, State Police and BCI, State Police BCI, Liberty Police and state Environmental Conservation Police.
