KINGSTON – Sloop Clearwater returned to its Kingston home port at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in time for Hudson River Day on Saturday, June 25.
The sloop left Albany Thursday morning and used its own motor and systems to return to Kingston, a trip that took about seven hours.
Now that the boat is back at its home port, the crew will up-rig the lines and sails, as well as reinstall the galley, captain’s cabin, the hold and head.
Hudson River Day at the Maritime Museum will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with deck tours of the Clearwater offered to the public.
To celebrate her relaunch, Clearwater will host a public dock-side re-launch ceremony with a ceremonial christening on July 4 at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The July 4 evening sail will depart the dock at 7 p.m. Tickets and the summer sail schedule are available at www.clearwater.org .
