Depew: “… we are for green energy …”

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A two megawatt solar farm large enough to power some 400 homes is expected to be completed in August.
The facility, on the old, capped, Town of Wallkill landfill, closed for some 25 years, is costing the town nothing to construct, said Town Supervisor Daniel Depew.
“It sends a message to the whole community that we are for green energy, we support the concept, and we do it in a way where it is not just green for the environment, but it’s green for the taxpayers,” Depew said.
The solar project is being constructed by GE, the same company that built a solar farm at President Container, a corrugated box manufacturing company, also in Wallkill.
