KINGSTON – Ulster County’s funding for Gateway Community
Industries comprises 20 percent or more of the agency’s annual budget
and amounts to several million dollars per year, but it is well worth
it, County Comptroller Elliott Auerbach said. His comments come following
an analysis of five organizations that over the past three years have
collectively received over $21 million from the county.

Auerbach said Gateway’s numerous contracts help hundreds of county
residents. “Gateway’s vocational, nutritional and mental health
services have played an integral role in the well-being and stability
of individuals and families throughout Ulster,” he said.

Gateway leads the top five not-for-profits contracted with the county
and received over $6 million since 2014.
