16-year-old arrested in stabbing incident

MONTICELLO – A 16-year-old Monticello youth was arrested last Friday,
June 10 and charged with felony assault in a stabbing incident.

At 3:15 p.m., Monticello Police on patrol on Prince Street spotted several
males gathered in the roadway involved in a dispute.
As the officers approached, they observed the 16-year-old stab a 24-year-old
Monticello man in the face with box cutter knife. The victim sustained
a serious laceration to his face and was transported to Catskill Regional
Medical Center by Mobile Medic Ambulance.

The alleged assailant was charged with assault and misdemeanor criminal
possession of a weapon. He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan
County Jail on $5,000 bail.

His name is being withheld because he may be eligible for youthful offender
status.
