ALBANY – Five Hudson Valley farms will receive grants through the state’s New Farmers Grant Fund.  The purpose of the fund, in its second round, is to assist early-stage farms in improving their farm’s profitability, resulting in the diversification and growth of the state’s agricultural sector.
New farms receiving state funds under the program include:

MX Morningstar Farm in Columbia County – $19,200
Sparrowbush Farm in Columbia County – $16,932
Alewife Farm in Dutchess County – $15,728

The state’s Empire State Development Corporation, in consultation with the state Department of Agriculture and Markets, administers the funds.
The grants will be used for project costs associated with the expansion of production, construction of farm buildings, purchase of equipment and seed, or upgrades to increase efficiency and boos production.
