NEW WINDSOR – The Orange
County Industrial Development Agency Thursday announced the hiring of
two firms to provide labor monitoring services on construction projects
receiving benefits from the organization.
The IDA approved agreements with Fellenzer Engineering of Middletown and Loeweke Brill Consulting Group of Rochester.
IDA Chief Operating Officer Laurie Villasuso said two companies will share the monitoring responsibilities.
“There are nine active projects right now and we have four or five that are coming up for approval or have already been approved or will be approved or are ready to start construction,” Villasuso said. “That’s a big onslaught of work right out of the gate so the IDA board decided it would be best to handle all of the work but also to compare and contrast.”
Both firms will keep tabs on the projects to ensure that local workers are hired. Policy requires that each project must use 85 percent of their construction workforce from seven area counties.
