GOSHEN – A Goshen native will become Orange County’s first recycling coordinator, a newly created position within the county’s public works department.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus announced the appointment of Ermin Siljkovic of Campbell Hall on Wednesday and said “his background, experience and enthusiasm make him a perfect fit for this important position.”
He will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive recycling and materials recovery plan, developing a public education and awareness program and participating in meetings with local municipal officials, consultants and representatives of the industry and advisory groups.
Siljkovic previously served as recycling coordinator for eight years with GrowNYC, a non-profit aimed at improving New York City’s quality of life through programs that secure a clean and healthy environment for future generations.
Roughly half of his salary will be paid for by the state.
