WAPPINGERS FALLS – The Village of Wappingers Falls, once a vibrant business center, has lost much of its allure over the years with nearby strip malls and shopping centers.
Mayor Matthew Alexander said that is changing with interest returning to the village.
“If people haven’t been here for a while they are going to see a completely different village,” Alexander said. “We have a new wine bar in town, a new wine place that a Culinary Institute graduate is opening up, restaurants in our village and we’ve got some places where you can enjoy some beautiful views of the falls so the business atmosphere is really changing. Things are looking up.”
The US EPA has also recently announced $200,000 for studies of contaminated properties so that they could be remediated and repurposed.
