Delaware Man arrested in Monticello for felony weapon possession

MONTICELLO – A 33-year-old Delaware man was arrested on Saturday
by Monticello Village Police on a charge of felony weapon possession.

At 1:40 a.m., officers were called to a report of a disturbance with an
unconscious man in the parking lot outside building 21 at the Sleepy Hollow
apartment complex on Terry Lane.

Officer Matthew Rohner and his K-9 arrived and observed Steven Barone
of Camden Wyoming, Delaware standing next to a car in a parking lot and
holding what appeared to be a handgun. When Barone saw the officer, he
tossed the weapon into the trunk of the car and began to walk away. He
was stopped and the weapon, a loaded .22 caliber handgun, was recovered
from the trunk.

The assault victim was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center
in Harris where he was treated for a head concussion and later released.

Barone was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and send to the
Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
