CRAGSMOOR – The Sam’s Point Preserve wildfire that has been raging since it broke out last Saturday was fully contained on Thursday. Over 2,000 acres were consumed by the flames.
More than 300 first responders from 91 fire departments in Ulster, Greene, Sullivan, Dutchess, Delaware and Orange counties, as well as state personnel and resources from a number of agencies battled the blaze.
No homes or major structures were damaged and there were no reports of injuries.
Sam’s Point and Minnewaska State Park remained closed all week as a precaution.
