GOSHEN – After the past several years of partial funding for the Orange County Arts Council, the county will provide a total of $40,000 for projects.
The county has historically provided grants of no more than $5,000 annually.
Prospective winners must apply and will be judged by the county arts council and county planning department.  County Executive Steven Neuhaus said some of the proposals are not the typical arts projects submitted in the past.
Some include painting over unattractive building exteriors and then painting murals to make them look “more attractive and inviting when you go different communities around the county.” Neuhaus said he is happy to see the fully funded program resumed after the budget crunch of recent years.
Arts Council Executive Director Dawn Ansbro said the grant program “is a wonderful opportunity for the county to show its appreciation for cultural events throughout Orange County.”
