POUGHKEEPSIE – Work is expected to begin next week on the reconstruction of a portion of Crum Elbow Road – Dutchess County Route 41 – between Cardinal Road and Matuk Drive in Hyde Park. Roadway safety and mitigation of season flooding will include raising the road, replacing drainage systems expanding shoulders, adding new guide rails, pavement, signs, striping and a stabilized highway embankment under the road.
The road carries an average of 8,100 vehicles per day.
Improvements on Crum Elbow Road are “a major priority for our scheduled road projects this year,” said County Executive Marcus Molinaro.
Crum Elbow Road will be closed to through traffic and a detour route will be posted.
When completed later this year, the road will be dedicated to Hyde Park teenager Claudio Coppola, who died in a one-car accident in 2012.
