WHITE PLAINS – A Bronx man pled guilty on Thursday in Westchester County Court to manslaughter in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 2 ½ year old child.
Carlton Brown, 32, had called 911 on August 31, 2014 to report the child, Kali Mack, was in distress and told arriving emergency services personnel that she fell off the bed. She was taken to Montifiore Mount Vernon Hospital and transferred to The Children’s Hospital at Montifiore in the Bronx where she died three days later.
An autopsy determined the cause of death was abusive head trauma and the manner of death was homicide.
In court, Brown admitted to subjecting the tot to blunt force trauma to her head and forcibly shaking her body causing her to sustain abusive head trauma, retinal hemorrhages and causing her death.
Brown faces up to 25 years in state prison when sentenced in July.
