CAMPBELL HALL – A large brush fire raged Monday afternoon at a farm
on the intersection of Route 416 and Eager Road in Hamptonburgh. The flames
consumed over 20,000 hay bales with firefighters concerned the flames
could threaten a barn full of equipment.
Fire departments from several areas of Orange County were on the scene
with at least two southern Ulster County departments – Plattekill
and Wallkill – on standby.
At least three departments were also called in from Sullivan County.
Other brush fires also broke out on Monday including a large one behind
the building at 1605 Route 300 in the Town of Newburgh’s Cronomer
Valley Fire District. Another was also extinguished at 258 Fox Run in
West Clinton.
Firefighters were also on the scene of a large brush fire at 274 Cragsmoor
Road in Cragsmoor.
There was also a fully involved house fire reported on Greentree Drive
South in the Roosevelt Fire District.
