Barnett
WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man was sentenced in Westchester County Court on Wednesday to 22 years in state prison on his January 29 manslaughter conviction in the death of David Benitez.
Antonio Barnett, 23, had chased the victim as he ran toward apartment buildings in Yonkers and stabbed him in the back with a large kitchen knife. Benitez was rushed to the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where he died in surgery two hours later.
Based on witness descriptions, Yonkers police located Barnett and arrested him at a nearby gas station. The knife was recovered on the roof of a nearby building.
Along with the prison term, Barnett will be required to undergo five years of post-release supervision.
