POUGHKEEPSIE – One of the two 18-year-old men, who were shot in
two incidents Wednesday night in Poughkeepsie, died on Thursday afternoon
at MidHudson Regional Hospital.

He was a senior athlete-student at Poughkeepsie High School.

The other victim was shot in the arm and police said they do not believe
either victim was the intended targets.

Shots rang out in Poughkeepsie just before 10 p.m. in front of 104 Winnikee
Avenue and the second volley of bullets at the intersection of Bement
and Harrison streets.

Police said it is unknown if there were two groups shooting at each other.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Poughkeepsie
City Police at 845-451-7577.

Mayor Robert Rolison called the death “a senseless act of violence.”

The mayor said the city “is committing every resource to bringing
this man’s killer to justice and we continue to ask the public for
any help or information about the incident that occurred on Winnikee Avenue
to call 845-451-7577.”
