POUGHKEEPSIE – The new
administration in Poughkeepsie is placing the city’s Industrial
Development Agency under the microscope to ensure that it is functioning
efficiently and properly.
Mayor Robert Rolison said the agency, which has the authority to offer tax breaks and other financial benefits to businesses, is being reviewed.
“We are looking at the IDA now, what the procedure is and making sure we have all the I’s dotted and the T’s crossed as far as making sure that we are making all of the reporting requirements,” the mayor said.  “Also the city council had asked for people who are interested in becoming members of the IDA. We are going to take our time in doing that so currently, the IDA in the county has taken on some of the projects for us.”
This is one area of Rolison’s review of city government in an effort to fine tune its operations.
