Taconic crash kills motorcyclist

PUTNAM VALLEY – A lead
motorcyclist in a group of a half dozen was killed Sunday when he failed
to negotiate a turn on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley, lost
control and struck the center guide rail. Killed in the crash was Arthur
Valenti, 22, of Queens was prnounced dead a the scene.
The incident occurred on the parkway beteween Bryant Pond Road and Peekskill
Hollow Road.
State Police at the Stormville barracks investigated and said the group of bikes was northbound at a high rate of speed at the time of the incident.
Several northbound vehicles slowed down after witnessing the accident.
A second motorcyclist, Steven Garciaackila 22, of maspet, Qheens wt=ith
non-life threatenub injuries.
struck the rear of a car and was ejected. He was transported to Hudson
Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
