PUTNAM VALLEY – A lead motorcyclist in a group of a half dozen was
killed Sunday when he failed to negotiate a turn on the Taconic State
Parkway in Putnam Valley, lost control and struck the center guide rail.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred on the parkway Bryant Pond Road and Peekskill Hollow
Road.

State Police at the Stormville barracks investigated and said the group
of bikes was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed at the time
of the incident.

Several northbound vehicles slowed down after witnessing the accident.
A second motorcyclist struck the rear of a car and was ejected. He was
transported to Hudson Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the operator who was killed and the one who was injured were
not immediately released by State Police pending notification of relatives.
